In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be either a resident of Arkansas attending an in-state or out-of-state postsecondary institution OR an out-of-state student attending a postsecondary education institution in Arkansas. Postsecondary education institution refers to a two- or four-year university, college, or trade school.
  3. Must enroll on a half time or more basis.
  4. Must plan to be enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate levels in a postsecondary school.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for international and U.S. students who are either residents of Arkansas attending an in-state or out-of-state postsecondary institution or are from out-of-state and attending a postsecondary education institution in Arkansas. Students must plan to be enrolled in a postsecondary institution for the following academic year.

Application requirements for the R. Preston Woodruff, Jr. Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Essay (semi-finalists only)
Additional Information: A total of 25 eligible entries will be drawn at random to select the scholarship winners. Those 25 students will have to write a 500-word essay on a topic that will be given to them. From those drawn, one $1,000 renewable scholarship will be given to the student with the most outstanding essay.

Award Amount: One student will win an additional scholarship of $1,000 annually, renewable for three additional years. This student must maintain academic progress as determined by his/her institution to continue receiving the scholarship.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Application form may be found on the Arkansas Student Loan Authority (ASLA) website. The student may enter only one time; duplicate entries will be disqualified (this includes any entries that are determined to be variations of the same entrant). All entries must be completed online no later than the deadline date.
