Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must reside in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont (Caledonia, Essex, or Orleans counties).
  4. Must be an incoming or current postsecondary student. Students may be pursuing any type of education or training (e.g., certificate, degree, etc.) at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
  5. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll full time.
  6. Must seek education or training in a health care field, including holistic health.
  7. Must demonstrate community involvement/service.

Description: This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who reside in the Northeast Kingdom area of Vermont and are seeking education and training in a health care field, including holistic health. Students must demonstrate financial need, community involvement/service, and education/work ethic.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Taini Mae Kinney who wished to honor Taini's kindness toward others. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and education/work ethic. Selection is based on financial need and application documents. There are approximately 65 applicants for this award each year.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available from the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) website. Applications may be completed either online or in paper form beginning on November 1. Please note: The student is only required to submit one application for all scholarships for which he/she wishes to apply. In addition, if a particular document is required for more than one scholarship, the student need only submit one copy of that document. To apply, the student must complete and submit the VSAC Unified Scholarship Application and submit the following materials: a letter of recommendation; an essay; and official transcripts. NOTE: Required additional materials MUST conform to the detailed instructions in the VSAC Scholarships Booklet. The student is highly encouraged to review the booklet thoroughly when assembling materials. Electronic applications and any digital versions of supplemental materials must be submitted by midnight on the deadline date. Paper applications or any supplemental materials in paper form must be postmarked by the deadline date.
