In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

  2. Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college or university.

Description: The Underground Elephant Scholarship is available for U.S. citizens who are accepted to or enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. To apply, applicants must submit an original essay about safe driving and how it impacts the community.

Additional Information: The Underground Elephant Scholarship was created to acknowledge safe drivers making a difference in their community through safe and responsible choices behind the wheel. One winner will be selected within two weeks of the deadline date and notified. The recipient will have two weeks to respond in order to claim the scholarship prize.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and additional instructions for applying to the Underground Elephant Scholarship are available online using the provided links. To be considered for this scholarship, students must complete the online application form and submit an original essay of up to 500 words in length that responds to the following questions: "How do you practice safe driving? Why is this important to you and your community?" All applications and essays must be received through the online application form no later than the deadline date. Late and incomplete submissions will not be considered.
