Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Maine for a minimum of three years prior to the first application. *Please note: Residence in Maine for the sole purpose of postsecondary education is not considered evidence of Maine residence for the purposes of these scholarships.
  3. Must pursue a career in osteopathic medicine.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be attending an accredited, American Osteopathic Association-approved college of osteopathic medicine. A list of the AOA-approved schools is available at www.osteopathic.org .
  6. Must be a first-year medical student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. students who are in their first year of study at an American Osteopathic Assocation-approved school of osteopathic medicine. Students must have been residents of Maine for three or more years prior to application (residence in Maine for the purpose of postsecondary education does not qualify).

Additional Information: An applicant who is a graduate of a public or private secondary school in Maine is considered eligible regardless of whether or not the applicant has resided elsewhere in the interim between graduation and application. The Maine Osteopathic Association reserves the right to require evidence of legal residence and to interpret the residence status of any application in the spirit of the Association's intent to provide support to Maine students.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are may be ontained using the contact information from the Maine Osteopathic Association (MOA) website and are due on June 30th each year. In addition to a completed application, the student must also submit an essay detailing his/her most significant awards, honors, and achievements; most relevant co-curricular, extracurricular, and work experiences; and objectives in osteopathic medicine.
