Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must major in nursing at a school of nursing accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Must also have a specialty in oncology.
  3. Must be a registered nurse (RN).
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in or applying to a master's nursing degree or post-master's nurse practitioner certificate program, and be enrolled during the upcoming academic year.

Additional Information: These scholarships are awarded to registered nurses who are interested in and committed to oncology nursing, and who are pursuing a master's degree in nursing or a post-master's nurse practitioner certificate. At the end of each year, the recipient must submit a summary describing the educational activities in which he/she participated. An individual cannot receive this award more than once.

Award Amount: Master's degree scholarships are awarded at $5,000 each.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Foundation website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: a copy of his/her transcripts; and a $5 application fee made payable to the ONS Foundation. Applicants are strongly encouraged to follow the guidlines on the ONS web site. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in discualification. The original plus five copies of the completed application packet must be received online by the deadline. No faxed materials will be accepted.
