Number of Awards & Eligibility: Number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled, or have been enrolled, full time (in any college or university) sometime during the 12-month period prior to the date the entry is submitted. In the case of a team, with a maximum of four students, at least one member of the team must meet the full-time eligibility criteria. The other team members must have been enrolled, as a minimum, on a part-time basis sometime during the 24-month period prior to the date the entry is submitted.
  3. This is an international competition designed to encourage college students to be active in science, engineering, mathematics, technology and creative invention, while stimulating their problem-solving abilities.
  4. Must be a current college student. Undergraduate and graduate students are both eligible to enter.

Description: All Finalists of the Collegiate Inventors Competition will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Winners will be awarded cash prizes: - Undergraduate and Graduate Winners receive $15,000 - Undergraduate and Graduate Runners-Up receive $5,000 - People’s Choice Award Winner receives $1,500.

Additional Information: Any full-time student enrolled in a U.S. college or university is eligible to enter. A full-time student is anyone who has been enrolled full time between June 2019 and June 2020. In the case of a team, at least one member of the team must be enrolled as a full-time student. The remaining team members must be enrolled as full-time or part-time students. A part-time student is anyone who has been enrolled part time between June 2019 and June 2020. Students who are currently enrolled full time and will graduate in May or June 2020 are eligible. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible as long as they are enrolled in a U.S. college or university and can meet student eligibility status. The winners are announced at the competition after the final judging round concludes. The top prize winners will be featured on the Collegiate Inventors Competition website. Applicants are welcomed to submit any supporting or supplemental materials they wish (examples: charts, graphs, videos, articles, samples, etc.).

Award Amount: All Finalists of the Collegiate Inventors Competition will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Winners will be awarded cash prizes: - Undergraduate and Graduate Winners receive $15,000 - Undergraduate and Graduate Runners-Up receive $5,000 - People’s Choice Award Winner receives $1,500  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.
