Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be planning a career in public school superintendency.
  3. Must be a U.S citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must have experience working in a school system or college department.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in graduate school at time of application.

Description: Created to provide incentive, honor, and financial assistance to five outstanding graduate students in school administration who intend to make the school superintendency a career.

Application requirements for the Educational Administration Scholarship Award are:

  • Personal statement
  • Letters of endorsement (2)
  • AASA MEMBERSHIP
Additional Information: If a nominee is selected to receive this award, the nominee must be a member of or apply for membership with AASA at the aspiring superintendent rate.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,500.

Applications are available on the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) website or from chairs of educational administration departments at universities that have such a program. Only one candidate may be submitted by each college or university. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: a mission statement, totaling not more than three single-spaced typewritten pages, addressing the topics listed on the application; one letter of recommendation from the dean of the school of education or the head of the department of education where the applicant is currently enrolled as a graduate student; and two letters of endorsement from the individuals listed on the application. The applicant must submit one original and five photocopies of the complete application package. All application materials must be received by email no later than the deadline.
