Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend an eligible Ohio college or university.
  2. Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an eligible master's program.
  3. Must be a registered nurse.
  4. Must pursue a nurse education program and intend to serve as nurse faculty after graduation.
  5. Must be a resident of Ohio.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. This award is for U.S. students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This forgivable loan is for Ohio registered nurses enrolled in approved Ohio post-licensure nurse education programs who intend to serve as nurse faculty after graduation. To qualify for loan cancellation, recipients must be employed as a faculty member instructing licensed practical nursing and/or registered nursing coursework to future nurses in the State of Ohio for a minimum of four years after graduation.

Additional Information: To qualify for loan cancellation, the borrower must secure full-time employment in the direct clinical practice of nursing in Ohio, or as a faculty member for a prelicensure or postlicensure program for nursing, within a period not to exceed six months following graduation from the approved nurse education program. Applicants must: not be in default or owe a refund to any federal financial aid program; and maintain an academic record which places the student in good academic standings within the institution.

Award Amount: Up to $6,000 per year  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

Applications are available online on the Ohio Board of Regents website. Before starting the application process, the student must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. As part of the online application, the student must provide information for two personal references, who cannot live at the same address and must be Ohio residents. If the student is under 18 years of age and/or has unfavorable credit, he/she must provide contact information for an Ohio resident to be a co-signer. After submitting the electronic application, students must print a copy of his/her application and mail it to the address provided within 10 days of completing the electronic application, or postmarked by July 15, whichever is sooner.
