Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards are offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have completed at least one academic quarter or semester of full-time graduate college work.
  2. Must have at least a 3.3 grade point average.
  3. Must be a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
  4. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  5. Must be majoring in a field of science or engineering related to aeronautics or astronautics.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for graduate students who are majoring in engineering or science and have a GPA of 3.3 or higher. The student must be an AIAA member in good standing.

Additional Information: The objective of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is to advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics. The Institute encourages: original research; furthers the dissemination of new knowledge; fosters the professional development of those engaged in scientific and engineering activities; improves public understanding of the profession and its contributions; fosters education in engineering and science; promotes communication among engineers and scientists, as well as other professional groups; and stimulates outstanding professional accomplishments. Funding is provided through the AIAA Foundation, the nonprofit educational arm of the AIAA. Applicant must be an AIAA member in good standing at the time of application and through the time of the award.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Applicant shall not have, or subsequently receive, any other scholarship/award which, when combined with the AIAA Foundation award, would provide a stipend greater than their tuition plus educational expenses (such as books, lab fees, room, board, etc.) estimated by the educational institution he/she plans to attend.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: an official school transcript, three letters of recommendation, a 500-1000 word essay on the applicants career goals, and a research outline. Applications will be accepted from Oct. 1 through the deadline date, and all completed applications with supporting materials must be received by that date.
