Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be pursuing training in an accredited dental residency or specialty program (including dental public health, oral surgery, orthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontics, pathology, and radiology) in the United States or Puerto Rico.
  3. Must be a current member of the Hispanic Dental Association.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must show interest in improving the oral health of the Hispanic community and evidence of commitment and dedication to serve the Hispanic community.
  6. Must be a full-time student during the academic year for which he/she is applying.
  7. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or be in good academic standing if his/her program does not provide a grade point average.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. students who are training in an accredited dental residency or specialty program (including dental public health, oral surgery, orthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, periodontics, pathology, and radiology). Students must be members of the Hispanic Dental Association and have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Application requirements for the Colgate-Palmolive Company Dental Residency or Specialty Program Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The Scholarship Committee of the HDA Foundation will review each application on its merit. Areas that will be included are the demonstration of: commitment and dedication to improving the oral health of the Hispanic community; community service (i.e., volunteer efforts in school, medical and dental facilities, church, etc.); leadership skills; and scholastic achievement. Students must be able to attend the scholarship reception for scholarship acceptance.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. A scholarship package will be provided to include a $500 travel reimbursement and complimentary annual meeting registration to award recipients. Recipients must attend the Annual Meeting for award acceptance.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online from the Hispanic Dental Association Foundation (HDAF) website. As part of the application, the student must submit a career goals statement of 500 words or less that discusses his/her career goals, specifically pertaining to his/her contribution to the Hispanic community. The student must also request that an appropriate person complete the 'Scholarship Program Recommendation' form and return directly to HDAF. The student must also request that his/her dean or program director complete the verification form and return directly to HDAF. All application documents must be mailed to the address provided and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
