Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be a resident of Florida.
  4. Must attend a Florida college or university.
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be majoring in agriculture, botany, city planning, conservation, ecology, forestry, horticulture, landscape design/architecture, or a related field of study.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  8. Must be a high school senior OR college sophomore, junior, or senior OR a graduate student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. high school seniors, college sophomores/juniors/seniors, and graduate students who are majoring in agriculture, botany, city planning, conservation, ecology, forestry, horticulture, landscape design/architecture, or a related field. The student must be a resident of Florida and attend a Florida college, and must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: Selection is based on academic record, financial need, character, and commitment to career. Every effort will be made to notify each applicant of results by June 30.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available on the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC) website and are accepted beginning March 1. An application packet must include the following: the completed application form, including the mailing address and the address of the college's office of financial affairs; the completed 'Statement of Financial Need' form; a transcript of high school/college subjects and grades; a personal letter discussing background, goals, commitment to career, and financial need; two letters of recommendation from instructors/professors; a letter of recommendation from a civic or religious leader in the student's community or hometown; a list of honors, extracurricular activities, work experiences, volunteering, military service, etc.; a head-and-shoulders photograph (3" x 5"). High school applicants must also include a letter of recommendation from their garden youth club leader if they were/are members of a youth garden club. Please note: All applicants must complete an interview with a president (or president's representative) of an FFGC garden club and obtain a letter of recommendation from that person. Interview information must be noted on the application. All application materials must be mailed to the address provided and must be received by the deadline.
