Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a graduate or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Preference is given to students who are self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), members of LGBT families, or straight-allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBT community.
  4. Must major in a medical field.
  5. Must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington state.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Description: This award is available for U.S. students who are pursuing a medical degree. The applicant must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington state, and preference is given to students who are self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), members of LGBT families, or straight-allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBT community.

Additional Information: Recognizing the tremendous financial need of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students, as well as straight ally students in the region, Pride Foundation began its scholarship program to help develop tomorrow's leaders that work for social justice. Since 1993 the foundation has helped more than 1,200 students achieve their educational goals.

Award Amount: $500 to $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Last year, the average award was over $4,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
