Prizes of $1,000 and $500 will be awarded to the first and second-place winners, respectively. All awards are offered annually and are non-renewable. In addition, the winning poems will also be published in the 'Southwest Review'.

The Southwest Review prefers not to receive email or faxed submissions and due to the great number of submissions, manuscripts will not be accepted during the summer months of June, July, and August. Manuscripts must be accompanied by a stamped, self-addressed envelope if the applicant desires a reply. The applicant's manuscript will not be returned unless self-address stamped envelope includes sufficient postage.
