New York Library Association (NYLA)
$1,000 annually, non-renewable. In addition, the winner will receive free attendance at the NYLA Annual Conference to be held after the awarding of the scholarship.
One award per eligible school offered annually.
The student must be willing to seek a job in New York state for two years or more following conferral of his/her degree. If work in New York state is not found or accepted, an explanation in writing must be sent to the Council of the New York Library Association. Three major factors will be considered in awarding the scholarship: evidence of a commitment to a career in librarianship, demonstrated leadership ability, and scholarly excellence. An interview may be required. The recipient will be notified by Dec. 15. Please note: Board members, officers, employees or relatives of either the NYLA or the Lake Placid Foundation are not eligible to apply.
