In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. You must qualify for admission at one of Michigan’s public colleges or universities
  2. You must be an enrolled citizen of a U.S. federally recognized tribe as certified by your Tribal Enrollment Department
  3. You must be a legal resident of the state of Michigan

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Sault Tribe is a 44,000-strong federally recognized Indian tribe that is an economic, social and cultural force in its community across the eastern Upper Peninsula counties of Chippewa, Luce, Mackinac, Schoolcraft, Alger, Delta and Marquette. The tribe is comprised of housing and tribal centers, casinos, and other enterprises that employ both Natives and non-Natives and fund tribal programs. Sault Tribe works hard to be self-sufficient, good stewards of the land and waters, and helpful to the surrounding community.

Application requirements for the Sault Tribe Higher Education Grant Program are:

  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Tribal card
  • University acceptance letters
  • W-9 tax form
Additional Information: Please note that pictures of documents will not be accepted unless very clear and no external items. All documents submitted for verification must have student’s name and school of attendance contact information.

Award Amount: $1,000 will be awarded to the chosen applicant  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
