The researchers are reimbursed by the ASA and are on a guest worker arrangement with the agency. The stipends received by researchers in this program are commensurate with their qualifications and experience.
The ASA/NSF/BLS Senior Research Fellow Program is for professionals in the fields of statistics, mathematics, economics, survey methodology, behavioral science, and other related fields. Fellows will travel to the Washington, DC office to work directly with the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) staff to resolve and study complex issues of significant interest to BLS, such as small area estimation, non-sampling error, item imputation, or survey methodology. Final decisions will be made in the late Spring.
