Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on funding and the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must plan to attend Stevenson University in Maryland.
  5. Must demonstrate academic excellence.
  6. Must demonstrate proven leadership in school-based activities, community service and/or athletics.
  7. Must attend college or university in Maryland.

Description: U.S. graduating high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence along with proven leadership in school-based activities, community service and/or athletics will be considered for this award from Stevenson University in Maryland.

Application requirements for the Stevenson University Presidential Fellowship are:

  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Admissions app. and supp. materials
  • Cornerstone project
Additional Information: The October ACT and/or November SAT are the final test dates that can be considered. All complete applications for freshman admission are read in the order they are received with admission decisions mailed approximately 3-4 weeks after completion (earliest notification date is October 15). All students admitted to the University are then reviewed a second time for the SU Merit-Based Scholarship Program. Official scholarship offers are mailed starting in December. Applicants selected as finalists will be invited to interview on-campus in early February.

Award Amount: Full tuition annually, renewable for three additional years. Presidental Fellows also receive Stevenson's Learning Beyond Fellowship, $3,000 in funding for a credit-bearing, faculty-led trip (domestic or abroad) during the recipient's junior or senior year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $100,000.

Applications are available online from the Stevenson University website. In addition to the completed admissions application and supporting materials, the student must submit a Presidential Fellows application, a 100-word short-answer essay question, and a cornerstone project as detailed within the application. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 1 and all standardized testing must be completed by Nov. 15.
