Number of Awards & Eligibility: Twenty five to thirty awards offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be the child or stepchild of members or former members of the Submarine Force who meet one of the following requirements: qualified in submarines and served on active duty in the Submarine Force for eight or more years; served on active duty in submarine support activities for a minimum of ten years; or died on active duty while in the Submarine Force. Years of service do not have to be consecutive. The sponsor's qualifying time must have been served on active duty; time served as a Naval Academy or NROTC Midshipman, in boot camp, or as a member of the inactive or Selected Naval Reserve cannot be used to establish eligibility. *Note: The qualifying time requirement may be waived if the sponsor was medically retired or medically discharged from the Navy due to injury or illness which occurred in the line of duty.
  3. Must be under the age of 24 on March 15 of the year of application.
  4. Must be unmarried on March 15 of the year of application.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must have a parent or stepparent who served in the U.S. Submarine Force.
  7. Must attend or plan to attend school as a full-time student.
  8. Must be a high school senior or current undergraduate college student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Full time undergraduates and students pursuing trade/vocational certification are eligible to receive $13,600 for up to 8 semesters. Approximately 25-30 new scholarships are awarded each year. Selections are based on academics, commitment, excellence in school and community activities. Financial need can be also be a contributing factor.

Additional Information: Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered eligible: • Be a child or stepchild of a member or former member of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force • Be a high school senior or be currently enrolled as a student in a college or an accredited vocational or technical institute • Be unmarried and under the age 24 at the time of the application deadline, March 15 • Intend to or be enrolled as a full-time student working toward an Associate's or Baccalaureate degree at a two or four year accredited university or college or be working toward vocational/technical certification at an accredited institute. Scholars attending any Military Service Academy are NOT eligible for the Dolphin Scholarship. • Be the dependent spouse of a member or former member of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force • Intend to or be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours per year in order to receive an Associate's or Baccalaureate degree at a two or four year accredited university or college or be working toward vocational/technical certification at an accredited institute.

Award Amount: Up to $13,600 per award.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $408,000.
