Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a former and retired members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, Reserve components and National Guard.
  2. Must agree to a term of service in a high need school or community in order to receive funding.
  3. Must show financial need.
  4. Must have at least a grade point average of 3.0.

Description: The Troops to Teachers Grant is available for Former and retired members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Reserve components and National Guard may be eligible. Recipients may receive a stipend or if they meet specific military service and application requirements.

Application requirements for the Troops to Teachers are:

Additional Information: The Troops to Teachers Program Office is located within the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), a component of the Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA). Services include counseling and placement assistance for eligible members of the armed forces to become a K-12 teacher. Financial assistance in the form of a stipend or a bonus may be available to participants who meet specific military service and application requirements. The max amount of a grant is $10,000
