In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Boone County, Missouri, St. Louis County, Missouri or Klamath County, Oregon.
  2. Must be involved in music, either through an instrument, vocal work, or dance.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in grades K through 12.

Description: The Notes for Life Scholarship Fund is available for K to 12 students in Boone County, Missouri, St. Louis County, Missouri or Klamath County, Oregon who is seeking to pursue additional education and development in instrumental music, singing, or dance.

Additional Information: The Notes for Life Scholarship is provided annually to local area students in the Greater Kansas City area who wish to pursue additional instruction with a musical instrument, singing, or dance. Submissions will be evaluated based on a combination of financial need and the student's demonstrated commitment to the musical arts, and scholarships will be provided to selected students for the purpose of assisting with the costs of lessons. This scholarship and many others are provided through the administrative services of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (GKCCF). Founded in 1978, GKCCF was designed to provide a central resource for smaller local charities that would benefit from pooled experience and administrative capacities. Award Amount: Scholarship awards will be provided at $50 per month to a maximum of $85 per month, for an annual total ranging between $600 and $1,020. Funds may be used to pay for musical lessons, and all checks will be made payable to the instructor on the winner's behalf.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $840.

Applications and additional information about the Notes for Life Scholarship are available online at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation website. To be considered for this award, students must complete the online application form and must include the "Education Budget" section to determine unmet financial need. Students must also submit short personal statements addressing their interests and plans related to music. All applications and supporting documents must be received online by the deadline date. Late and incomplete submissions will not be considered.
