Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually depending on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be a high school student at the time of application.
  3. Must have employment experience with migratory farm work.
  4. Must reside in or have a history of migrating to New York state for agricultural work.

Description: This award is available for a migrant farmworker senior high school student from New York State needing post-secondary scholarship assistance who has demonstrated a caring and giving attitude toward another individual or community.

  • Personal statement
  • Migrant Education Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
Additional Information: The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a migrant farmworker senior high school student from New York State needing post-secondary scholarship assistance who has demonstrated a caring and giving attitude toward another individual or community.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available by request from the Geneseo Migrant Center. Information about obtaining an application can be found on the center's website at the link provided. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit a letter of recommendation from a school, community or educational agency representative with a personal knowledge of the applicant's character, educational commitment and financial need; a personal essay including his/her background, career, and personal goals and indicating why he/she should receive this assitance; proof that he/she has been admitted to the school chosen; and a copy of his/her current or most recent Migrant Education Program Certificate of Elegibility (COE). All Applications must be submitted online or by mail no later than the deadline date.
