Number of Awards & Eligibility: 12 awards offered annually, 1 per monthly application period.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in high school or college.
  3. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  4. Must be a citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold a valid student visa in the U.S. or Canada.
  5. Must have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others.

Description: This award is for high school and college students in the U.S. or Canada that have completed a project that makes a difference in the lives of others. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Innovation in Education Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
Additional Information: The winning project is based on its creativity, innovation, and user experience. Questions that the project must answer include: does the project solve a problem and does the project aim for originality. A panel of three judges will select the winner each month.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

All scholarship application materials can be found at the LA Tutors website. This scholarship requires that students have designed an innovative project that make a difference in the lives of others. Examples of this project are a website, blog series, an app, or a fundraising event. The application must include an essay describing the goal of the project and provide supporting documentation, as well as a letter of recommendation and a photo of the student during the project execution. The application is due by 11:59 p.m. PST on the 20th of each month.
