Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate degree program.
  3. Must obtain the endorsement of an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) who is an executive member of the AAAE at the national level and a member of his/her regional chapter. The student is not required to be a dependent of the A.A.E. under whose endorsement he/she applies. Dependents of Executive Emeritus and Honorary Life Members are eligible.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. undergraduate students who obtain the endorsement of an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.); the A.A.E. must be a member at the national and regional levels. Awards are based on financial need.

Additional Information: As recommended by the Accreditation Value Task Force, the AAAE Foundation offers scholarships to qualified college students who do not have to be a dependent of an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.). These additional grants were initiated as a way to broaden the eligibility of the scholarship program to a wider range of family members, such as grandchildren, and also provide opportunities for single active A.A.E.s who do not have dependents to recommend for scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need. Awards are made in July.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply for a maximum of four years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) website. Please note: To apply for this scholarship, the student MUST obtain the endorsement of an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.). The student does not have to be a dependent of the A.A.E. under whose endorsement he/she applies. Dependents of Executive Emeritus and Honorary Life Members are also eligible. As part of the application, the student may provide financial information for his/her parents. If the financial form is not completed, the applicant will be considered only for the minimum award amount. Since there is no particular income level at which applicants are denied consideration, it is strongly suggested that all students complete the form. Data must be from the IRS form which contains income data for the current fiscal year (forms filed or to be submitted by April 15). In addition to the application, the student must submit the following supporting documents: a personal statement of 500 words or less detailing his/her educational plans and how they relate to his/her career goals; a recommendation; and a transcript or copy of grades (unofficial transcripts acceptable). The recommendation and transcript may be submitted in sealed envelopes but must accompany the application. The application and all supporting documents must be mailed to the address provided and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
