Number of Awards & Eligibility: 52 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or a Canadian citizen.
  3. Must not reach 25th birthday prior to Jan. 1 of the year of application.
  4. Must have at one time been a National Junior Angus Association member and must currently be a junior, regular or life member of the American Angus Association.
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be a graduating high school senior or must be enrolled in a junior college, four-year college/university or other accredited institution of higher education for the fall term in which the scholarship is to be awarded.
  7. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The American Angus Association is offering many scholarships to graduating high school seniors and current undergraduates that are active in the National Junior Angus Association. The applicant must be under the age of 25 during the year of application, and have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letters (3)
Additional Information: Scholarship recipients will be announced at the National Junior Angus Show in July. A check will be awarded to the winner after he/she presents evidence of enrollment as a full-time student in accordance with guidelines. In the event that the winner of a scholarship fails to meet enrollment requirements by Sept. 30, the award will be forfeited.

Award Amount: There will be two $5,000 scholarships in memory of Richard L. Spader, former Executive Vice President of the American Angus Association awarded. In addition, a number of $3,000 and $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Last year, there were 20 $3,000 awards and 30 $1,000 awards given.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,923.

Applications are available on the National Junior Angus Association website. In additon to the completed application, the applicant must submit the following: a copy of his/her most current high school and college transcripts and three letters of recommendation. The individuals writing the recommendation letters should include their association with the applicant and a candid evaluation of the applicant's abilities, background, character, strengths, weaknesses, etc. The recommendations may come from employers, teachers, ag leaders, junior advisers, pastors, etc. They may not include applicants, parents, American Angus Association board of directors or American Angus Association employees. All scholarship applications should be typed in the PDF form to complete the application. Do not add extra pages. Do not use the backs of pages. The application must be postmarked on or before the deadline date.
