Number of Awards & Eligibility: *Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year. Each student meeting the minimum requirements or higher will automatically receive one of the following awards: the Ambassador Award (for students meeting minimum requirements); the Director's Scholarship (for students with a grade point average of 3.0 and an SAT score of 1000 or an ACT score of 21); the Provost's Scholarship (for students with a grade point average of 3.5 and an SAT of 1100 or ACT score of 24); or the President's Scholarship (for students with a grade point average of 4.0 and an SAT score of 1200 or ACT score of 26).
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must attend Ashland University in Ohio.
  4. Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must have an ACT score of 18 or higher OR an SAT score of 860 or higher.
  6. Must enroll full time.
  7. Must be a graduating high school senior planning to enroll as a first-time freshman.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. first-time freshmen planning to attend Ashland University are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and an SAT score of 860 or an ACT score of 18 or higher.

Application requirements for the Ashland University Grant are:

  • Official Transcript
  • Essay
  • Admissions application form
  • ACT/SAT scores
Additional Information: The scholarship amount is based on the student's seventh semester grade point average and standardized testing taken during or before February of his/her senior year. Four different awards are offered pending on the student's grade point average and ACT or SAT score combination: the Ambassador Award, the Director's Scholarship, the Provost's Scholarship, or the President's Scholarship.

Award Amount: $6,000 for Ambassador's Award recipients (renewable with a grade point average of 2.0); $9,000 for Director's Scholarship recipients (renewable with a grade point average of 2.0); $11,000 for Provost's Scholarship recipients (renewable with a grade point average of 2.75); and $13,000 for Presidential Scholarship recipients (renewable with a grade point average of 3.0). All awards are offered annually, and are renewable for up to three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $39,000.

Applications for admission are available online from the Ashland University website in PDF or online format. There is not a separate application for this award. Students will be considered upon admission. In addition to the completed admissions application, the student must submit official transcripts and ACT/SAT scores. An essay may be requested at a later time. The applicant will be notified via mail if an essay will be needed to supplement his/her application. Upon high school graduation, a final transcript must be forwarded to the Ashland University Office of Admission. Applications are accepted year-round, but the priority deadline is March 15.
