Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a female.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  5. Must be an incoming or current college freshman.
  6. Must major in engineering or engineering technology.

Description: This award is available for U.S. and international female high school seniors who plan to major in engineering or engineering technology and enroll full time. Students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Additional Information: Applicants must not be receiving full funding for education (tuition, fees, and books or equivalent) from their school or another organization (e.g., members of the Armed Services attending U.S. military academies, students receiving full reimbursement from an employer). Applicants must attend or plan to attend a college or university with an ABET-accredited program. Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications must be completed online at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) website between March 1 and May 1. In addition to completing the online application, the student must upload the following documents: current official transcripts from all schools attended; a letter of acceptance to an ABET-accredited college or university; and a resume. The student must also submit email contact information for two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a teacher in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field who is familiar with the student's work. The other letter must be from a person who has known the student for two or more years and who is not a relative or member of the student's family. Recommenders will be sent information regarding submission of their letters; the letters are due approximately one week after the student's application deadline. The online application and all required supporting materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. CT on the deadline date.
