Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must be a resident of Castro County in Texas and be graduating from a high school located in Castro County.
  4. Must attend Texas Tech University or West Texas A&M University.
  5. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must exhibit leadership and community service.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors residing and graduating from a high school in Castro County, Texas are eligible for this award. Students must enroll full time at Texas Tech University or Texas A&M University and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher while in college.

Additional Information: The Beral Hance Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by family and friends of the late Beral Hance. Recipients are selected by the Amarillo Area Foundation Scholarship Screening Committee. Applicants must exhibit financial need. Recipients must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher while in college.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online from the Amarillo Area Foundation website. Each applicant must create a login and password in order to access the online application. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit proof of U.S. citizenship or residency, official high school and/or college transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, a current IRS Form 1040, and two letters of recommendation. Some supplemental materials may be submitted in electronic format within the online application. If materials are not available in electronic format, they may be mailed or faxed using the respective mailing address and fax number. Applications and all supporting materials must be received by noon CST on the deadline date. Materials postmarked by the deadline date will also be accepted.
