Number of Awards & Eligibility: Six awards offered annually. At least two scholarships will be awarded to students attending any campus of the University of California or the California State University system. At least four scholarships will be awarded to students attending any California community college.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a parent or legal guardian employed as a vineyard worker by a wine grape grower during the 2017 or 2018 growing season.
  4. Must plan to attend any campus of the University of California or California State University, OR any California community college.
  5. Must plan to enroll full time.
  6. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for current high school seniors whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) worked as a vineyard employee of a winegrape grower during the 2017 or 2018 season. Applicants must plan to enroll full time in a University of California, California State University or California community college.

Application requirements for the California Wine Grape Growers Foundation (CWGGF) Scholarship are:

  • Application form

  • Recommendation letter
  • Essay
  • SAT/ACT scores
Additional Information: The scholarship committee of the California Wine Grape Growers Foundation (CWGGF) will award the scholarships. Selection is based upon financial need, demonstrated scholastic ability, community involvement and leadership and/or work history, and the applicant's determination to succeed. Children of wine grape growers may request a waiver from the eligibility requirement based upon financial need. Current directors or employees of the foundation or their children are not eligible to apply.

Award Amount: CAWG Foundation is awarding two types of scholarships: 1) Three $8,000 scholarships for four years at any campus in the University of California or California State University system. 2) Three $2,000 scholarships for two years at any California community college.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $30,000.
