Number of Awards & Eligibility: Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year. Each student meeting the requirements will receive an award.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must enroll full time.
  5. Must plan to attend Cedarville University in Ohio.
  6. Must be a National Merit or Achievement Finalist or Semi-Finalist based on PSAT results from his/her junior year of high school.
  7. Must have an unweighted grade point average of 3.75 or higher.
  8. Must be a Christian.
  9. Must plan to attend a college or university in Ohio.

Description: U.S. National Merit or Achievement Finalists or Semi-finalists, and students with an unweighted grade point average of 3.75 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must plan to attend Cedarville University in Ohio.

Application requirements for the Cedarville University President’s Excellence Award are:

  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • $30 app. fee
Additional Information: This award may not be combined with the Cedarville Scholar or Academic Excellence Awards, but it may be combined with other grants and scholarships.

Award Amount: For Fall 2021, the University will offer the President's Scholar Award to recognize students' academic achievements. These renewable scholarships range from $10,000 to $20,000 per year based on high school credentials. No separate application is required. Qualifying GPA or standardized test scores (not required*) must be submitted by July 31.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $80,000.

Applications for admission are available online from the Cedarville University website. There is not a separate application for this award. Each student is considered upon admission. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit ACT/SAT scores, a $30 application fee, transcripts, a completed high school recommendation form, and a completed church leader recommendation form. The student must inform the university of his/her status by either having the National Merit Scholarship Corporation send a copy of his/her letter of recognition to the Admissions Office or having his/her high school counselor indicate the qualification on the recommendation form. Admissions and scholarship applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but it is recommended that students apply by March 1 for priority financial aid consideration.
