Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must be able to call ducks and be willing to compete in the Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Application requirements for the Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Scholarship Contest are:

  • Register at Stuttgart chamber of commerce
Additional Information: One of the stars in the crown of duck calling is the scholarship offered to the winner of the Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest, which is open to any high school senior in the United States who can call ducks. The scholarships can be used to further the student's education in any field. Each contestant must follow the rules ordained by the World's Championship Duck Calling Contest. The contestant will have 90 seconds to use four calls: hail, feed, comeback, and mating. The contest honors the memories of Chick and Sophie Major, who were waterfowl enthusiasts. Chick Major was well-known as the maker of the Dixie Mallard Duck Call.

Award Amount: The winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship. The first runner-up will receive a $1,000 scholarship; the second runner-up will receive a $750 scholarship; and the third runner-up will receive a $500 scholarship. All awards are offered annually and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,063.

Information about this award can be found on the Stuttgart, Arkansas website. There is no entry fee for this contest, but contestants must register through the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Registration for all duck-calling contests will open at 8 a.m. on the deadline date, and the competition will begin at 11 a.m.
