Description: The Coach Wade Pittsford Scholarship is provided in memory of Wade Pittsford, a Freshman football coach for the Bulldogs at Bowie High School in Bowie, Texas. The Scholarship is provided annually to graduating seniors at Bowie High School in Bowie, Texas. Applicants must be involved in the BHS Bulldogs' football or basketball team.

Additional Information: The Coach Wade Pittsford Scholarship is provided in memory of Wade Pittsford, a Freshman football coach for the Bulldogs at Bowie High School in Bowie, Texas. Coach Pittsford passed in a tragic aotomobile accident at the young age of 28, but he is remembered by friends, family, and teammates for his dedication to sports and his love for the community. Each year, this scholarship will be provided to a graduating senior at Bowie High School who is active in football and/or basketball. Award selection will be based on a combination of the following factors: grade point average and other academic distinctions or awards; years of involvement with the football or basketball team; sportsmanship; positive attitude; and demonstration of leadership. The Austin Community Foundation has provided more than $6.5 million in scholarship awards since the scholarship program began in 1996. Each year, more than 400 new awards worth in excess of $600,000 are provided through a variety of programs designed to assist students in the Austin, Texas area and beyond.

Award Amount: The award amount varies annually. Typical scholarships are approximately $500 to $1,000 one-time awards.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

To apply for this award, students must complete the online application form and submit all documents and information required in the supplemental question section. For this scholarship, the following additional documents are required: proof of financial need; two letters of recommendation; and any other supplemental materials requested on the application form. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted online by the deadline date. Any late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
