Number of Awards & Eligibility: Thirty awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must be a recent graduate from a Baltimore city public high school.
  4. Must not have a total family income greater than $75,000. Those with an income greater than $75,000 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please note: If the applicant has a financial need of more than $5,000, he/she will generally not be eligible for a grant unless he/she provides written documentation detailing how the remaining amount will be financed. Applicants in this category are reviewed and considered on a case-by-case basis.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must contribute at least 15 percent of the total cost of education through self help. Examples of self help would include the Stafford Loan Program, the Perkins Loan Program, the Direct Loan Program, financing through a bank or a nonprofit organization, employment, or a campus work-study program.
  7. Must be a resident of Maryland.
  8. Must be accepted to and plan to attend a 4-year college/university in Maryland.

Description: This award is for U.S. high school seniors that will graduate from a Balitmore city public high school. Students must be accepted to and plan to attend a 4-year college/university in Maryland. Students must not have a total family income greater than $75,000.

Application requirements for the CollegeBound Foundation Last-Dollar Grant are:

  • Fin. aid award letters
Additional Information: The CollegeBound Foundation awards 'last-dollar' grants to students who graduate from a Baltimore City public high school. The award is based solely on financial need. CollegeBound determines financial need by reviewing the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and the amount of financial aid that has been awarded to him/her. This total amount is then subtracted from the student's college costs.

Award Amount: Up to $3,000 annually, renewable for up to five years of college.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.

Information is available online at the CollegeBound Foundation website. Applications are only available online through the online portal. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Last-Dollar Grant Application, the applicant must also submit the following: an acceptance letter from the college or university he/she will attend; a copy of his/her recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year; a copy of his/her Student Aid Report (SAR); a financial aid award letter from the college or university he/she will attend; and a Maryland Higher Education Commission Notification Letter (if applicable). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The CollegeBound Foundation Last-Dollar Grant Application must be received by the deadline.
