Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a single parent or a student who was raised in a single parent home.
  4. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university during the upcoming academic year.

Description: The Colwell Law Group Single Parent Scholarship is available for single parents as well as students who were raised in single parent households. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must be U.S. citizens or legal residents.

Application requirements for the Colwell Law Group Single Parent Scholarship are:

  • Essay
Additional Information: The Colwell Law Group Single Parent Scholarship is provided annually to students who grew up in a single family home, as well as single parents who are themselves enrolled in or planning to enroll in a college or university during the upcoming academic year. Award selection will be based on a combination of academic merit, community and extracurricular involvement, as well as the strength of submitted essays. Students are encouraged but not required to include a recent resume as well as a letter of recommendation that speaks to the student's strengths and accomplishments.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications and additional information for the Colwell Law Group Single Parent Scholarship is available online using the attached links. To apply for this scholarship, students must complete the online application form at the Colwell Law website. A completed application requires two essay submissions as well as a copy of high school and/or college transcripts. Students may also choose to submit an optional resume and letter of recommendation, although these are not required for consideration. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted through the online application form no later than the deadline date.
