Cynthia E. Morgan Scholarship Fund

Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current resident of the state of Maryland.
  3. Must be the first person in his/her immediate family who will be attending a Maryland accredited postsecondary school. 'Immediate family' is defined as consisting of direct family lineage, such as brothers/sisters, mothers/fathers, and grandparents on either mother's or father's side.
  4. Must be planning to enter a medical or medical-related field.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in a Maryland high school and be planning to attend a Maryland college or university OR be currently attending a Maryland college or university.
  6. Must be a high school junior or senior, or be currently attending (or planning to attend) an accredited postsecondary school to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Current high school juniors or older students attending or planning to attend a Maryland college or university to pursue a career in a medical or medical-related field are eligible for this award. Students must be Maryland residents.

Application requirements for the Cynthia E. Morgan Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The winner will be notified via mail by mid-March. The winner is encouraged, but not required, to attend the fund's annual Bull and Oyster Roast. The winner and one guest will each receive a free ticket to the event. Tickets are $30 each, and the winner's friends and family are welcome to attend. Event information will accompany the award letter.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. The scholarship MUST be used on valid school-related expenses. These include, but are not limited to, tuition, fees, books, or supplies. The student MUST provide proof of attendance at an accredited postsecondary institution, and must provide proof of fees incurred before being awarded the scholarship monies.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Cynthia E. Morgan Scholarship Fund website. The applicant may apply online, through email or by mail. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit an essay of 350 to 500 words on his/her goals and aspirations as they relate to his/her education, career and future plans. The applicant should also explain why he/she is a qualified candidate and should be considered for this scholarship. If the applicant chooses to apply by mail, he/she must handwrite or type the essay in 12 point font with 1" margins using the provided mailing address. If the applicant chooses to apply through email, he/she must scan the application and submit the essay using Microsoft Word. The application and essay should be emailed to [email protected] 'Scholarship Application' should be used as the subject line. All applications and essays must be postmarked or emailed by the deadline date.
