Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards granted varies. Currently, Belk has 32 scholars.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must apply to Davidson College in North Carolina by Dec. 3.
  4. Must be a current high school senior to be nominated for this undergraduate award.
  5. Must demonstrate exemplary academic achievement and extraordinary potential. A candidate's record and recommendations must demonstrate purposeful engagement in the classroom, with student and civic organizations, on the athletic field, or in the arts. While academic achievement is paramount, Belk Scholars also exhibit intellectual curiosity and a commitment to both their local and global communities.
  6. Must plan to attend a college or university in North Carolina.

Description: The Davidson College John Montgomery Belk Scholarship is available for exemplary U.S. highschool seniors with an interest in attending Davidson College. Students must be nominated to be considered for this award.

Additional Information: This award is for incoming freshman enrolling at Davidson College.

Award Amount: For each scholar, the Belk Scholarship provides comprehensive funding (tuition, fees, room and board). In addition, each scholar will be awarded two summer stipends, up to $3,000 each, to support intellectual, personal, and leadership development over the course of his/her college years. In recent years, Belk Scholars have used the stipends to explore passions in this country and abroad.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $68,700.
