Number of Awards & Eligibility: A minimum of three awards will be provided this year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a serious interest in pursuing studies leading to a career in broadcast engineering or closely related field.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be a high school senior who plans to graduate in the spring to apply for this undergraduate award. The student must plan to enroll at a technical school, college or university in the fall.

Additional Information: Each year, the Ennes Educational Foundation Trust offers up to three scholarships to deserving candidates who aspire to a career in the technical aspects of broadcasting. Scholarship awards are used for tuition, room and board or textbook costs at postsecondary educational institutions, or for other technical training programs approved by the scholarship committee. Announcement of the recipients will be made in July, with grants available for the fall semester of the same year. At the end of the award term, the recipient must submit a technical paper of 400 to 500 words on a broadcast-engineering topic of his/her choice for potential use in an SBE publication.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable and depending on the availability of funds. Applicants are limited to one scholarship award per year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available on the Ennes Educational Foundation Trust website. The foundation awards three scholarships annually: the Harold E. Ennes Scholarship; the Robert D. Greenberg Scholarship and the Youth Scholarship. The applicant may submit the same application regardless of the scholarship for which he/she is applying. The applicant must select the appropriate scholarship(s) for which he/she is eligible. If eligible for all three scholarships, the applicant must complete sections A, B, and C of the application. If the applicant is eligible for the Youth Scholarship only, he/she must complete sections B and C. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a brief autobiography concerning his/her interests and goals in broadcasting; a brief written statement explaining his/her career goals and education plans after high school; and a copy of his/her current or most recent high school transcripts. The applicant also has the option of providing the name and contact information for two references (preferably Society of Broadcast Engineers members, but other references are acceptable as well). A completed application and supporting materials must be received by the deadline date at the address provided.
