Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  4. Must be of Latino or Hispanic descent.
  5. Must be a high school senior or an undergraduate student.
  6. Must enroll at least part time (6 semester or 8 quarter hours).
  7. Must have a record of volunteer service.
  8. Must live in Chicago within the following boundaries: Between 16th to 79th streets, and between Cicero Ave., (4800 West) and Canal (500 West).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for a Chicago Latino high school senior or college student who has a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

  • Personal statement
  • Copy of 2014 tax form
  • Copy of college financial aid letter
  • Resume
Additional Information: Finalists will be invited for interviews in June. Recipients must be present at the Scholarship Reception.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Additional information is available on the Feista Del Sol website. The student must complete the paper application and provide the following: two letters of recommendation (one must be from a school official); an official high school transcript (for high school students or those with less than 30 college credits); an official college transcript; a copy of the student's previous years' federal tax return (a copy of the student's parent's form must also be included, if 24 or younger); a current resume; a copy of his/her college financial aid award letter; and a personal statement (250 to 400 words) describing his/her career goals, volunteer service, activities, awards and other important information. The application and all supporting materials must be delivered by 5 p.m. EST on the deadline date or postmarked by this date.
