Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a migrant worker or the child of a migrant worker (priority will be given to those with mobility in the last three years.)
  3. Must major in education.
  4. Must have a career goal to be a teacher.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident at time of application.
  6. Must be a high school senior or older student to apply for this undergraduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: To serve as a living tribute to Frank Kazmierczak, a long-time migrant educator, by offering an annual award in the amount of $1,000 for post-secondary scholarship assistance to a migrant farmworker student who wishes to pursue a career in teaching.

Application requirements for the Frank Kazmierczak Memorial Migrant Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Migrant Education Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
Additional Information: Priority will be given to migrant workers who have migrated in the last three years or to the children of those migrant workers. The Frank Kazmierczak Memorial Migrant Scholarship will be awarded annually at the National Migrant Education Conference. The award will be provided to the recipient upon submission of proof of acceptance or enrollment at an accredited public or private college. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and scholastic achievement.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available from the Geneseo Migrant Center website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: two or more letters of recommendation (one of which must be from a school or community/educational agency representative with personal knowledge of the applicant's character and commitment to pursuing a career in teaching); an offical copy of his/her school transcript; a personal essay of 300 to 500 words telling about his/her reason for wanting to become a teacher; and his/her current or most recent Migrant Education Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Completed applications and supporting materials must be submitted annually by the deadline date. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
