Number of Awards & Eligibility: Eight awards offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.
  3. Must have an ACT score of 25 or higher, or an SAT score (combined math & language) of 1200 or higher.
  4. Must plan to enroll full time.
  5. Must plan to live on campus.
  6. Must plan to attend Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.
  7. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.

Description: This award is for undergraduate students who plan to enroll in Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina full time and live on campus. The student must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher and either an SAT score (reading/math) of 1200 or higher or an ACT score of 25 or higher.

Application requirements for the Gardner-Webb University Ignite Excellence Competitive Scholarships are:

  • Admission Application
  • Official Transcript
  • FAFSA
Additional Information: Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of eight semesters. Scholarships do not cover costs for additional credits taken, summer school charges or other program costs such as GEM. *Outside sources of federal and state aid such as Pell, NC Need Based Scholarship, will reduce the value of the Presidential Fellows Scholarship.

Award Amount: Presidential Fellows receive the full value of tuition, room, and board ($31,220). All awards are renewable each year, provided the student maintains a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Ignite Excellence Participation Award– $2,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,903.

Information about specific scholarships can be found by clicking on the "Scholarships and Grants" tab on the left menu. Students must apply for admission to Gardner-Webb University (GWU) to be considered for this award. An additional scholarship application is not required. Students may download a printable admission application at www.gardner-webb.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply-printable/index.html or apply online. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a non-refundable $40 fee (waived for online applications); an official high school transcript; SAT and/or ACT scores; his/her class rank; and a recent photograph. The student must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All materials must be submitted by the deadline date.
