Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships awarded each year varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a resident of Cook County, Illinois.
  4. Must be a high school senior.
  5. Must plan to enroll in college full time.
  6. Must have a cumulative, unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  7. Must be eligible to receive state and federal financial aid, and must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  8. Must attend a U.S. accredited bachelor’s degree-granting college or university that is eligible to receive Title IV federal aid.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The George M. Pullman Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors from Cook County, Illinois. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need.

Application requirements for the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Scholarship finalists will be notified in early May and are required to submit their college acceptance letter, a recent financial aid award notification from their chosen institution, an online financial aid form, and information about any other scholarships or awards received.

Award Amount: Up to $10,000 annually, renewable for up to an additional three years (total of eight semesters). The amount of the award varies depending upon the recipient's unmet financial need.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $40,000.

The deadline for 2019 has passed. Please check back in December for updated information about the 2020 scholarship application period. Applications are available online from the George M. Pullman Educational Foundation website. Detailed instructions are included on the application form and it is advised that students carefully review all requirements prior to submission. The student must complete the online application, which includes information on the student's grade point average, classes taken in school, information about his/her family's income, list of high school activities, and three separate essay questions. Each essay must be 500 words or less, and typed using Times New Roman font (12pt). Essays must be saved in a file (Word or PDF) using the student's application reference number and uploaded to the application. The student must not include his/her name on any of the essays. Applicants must also include contact information for two people who will provide online recommendation forms, which are also available on the Foundation’s website. All applications must be completed online and must be received no later than the deadline date.
