Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually. Approximately three awards were provided last year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be of Spanish, Latino or Hispanic descent.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must attend a high school in Arizona.
  4. Must be a graduating high school senior.

Description: The Gerald E. Myers & Juanita T. Myers Scholarship is provided to graduating high school seniors in Arizona of Spanish, Latino or Hispanic descent.

Additional Information: Provided in memory of Gerald E. Myers & Juanita T. Myers, this award was founded in 1999 to continue their legacy of building positive Hispanic and Latino role models with the Arizona community. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate unmet financial need. The Arizona Community Foundation provides scholarships for high school seniors and current college students throughout Arizona. Selection for awards is based primarily on academic records, financial need (as demonstrated by the FAFSA paperwork), and the quality of other submission items such as essays and recommendation letters.

Award Amount: The amount of each scholarship award may vary annually based on the availability of funding and the demonstrated financial need of the selected recipient.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

Applications are available on the Arizona Community Foundation website. To apply, the applicant must register with the foundation. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation, one from his/her guidance counselor and one from a high school academic teacher, attesting to his/her academic strengths and determination to succeed at the university; a high school transcript through the seventh semester; a 500- to 700-word essay addressing the topic listed on the application; typed personal statements; verification of SAT and/or ACT test scores; and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid form(FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All application materials must be submitted together in the same envelope and be received by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date.
