In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior or community college transfer student.
  4. Must reside in a qualifying North Carolina county. A list of eligible counties is available on the Golden LEAF website.
  5. Must plan to attend a participating North Carolina four-year institution. A list of participating institutions is available on the Golden LEAF website.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to high school seniors and community college transfer students who reside in qualifying North Carolina counties and plan to attend a participating four-year North Carolina institution. All applicants must demonstrate financial need; grade point average will also be considered in the selection process.

Additional Information: All applicants must demonstrate financial need. Recipients are selected based upon multiple factors including grade point average, financial need, length of residence in the county, and the ability to communicate a commitment to returning to a rural county that is economically distressed. Students awarded Golden LEAF Scholarships are also eligible to participate in the Golden LEAF Scholars Leadership Program (subject to funding availability). Award Amount: $750 per semester  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Application information is available online on the Golden LEAF Foundation website. Please note: Students must apply via the online application hosted on the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) website. In addition to the CFNC application, the student must also submit transcripts and complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All application information must be submitted through CFNC; information should not be sent to the Golden LEAF Foundation. All application materials must be submitted by the deadline date.
