Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Blount, Loudon, or Knox counties in Tennessee.
  2. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must plan to major in a medical field.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Description: The Gordon W. and Agnes P. Cobb Scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors and undergraduate students who reside in Blount, Loudon, or Knox counties in Tennessee. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and pursue a major in a medical field.

Additional Information: This award, established in 1996 through a bequest left by Agnes P. Cobb Yoakum, provides support to students from Blount, Loudon, or Knox counties in Tennessee who are pursuing a medical-related undergraduate degree. Preference will be given to applicants planning to attend school in Tennessee and work in the East Tennessee area following graduation. Factors to be considered by the selection committee will be: financial need; general aptitude for advanced educational work; evidence of participation in and service to the community; and the maturity and professionalism of the student, in that order of importance. The selection committee reserves the right to conduct brief interviews with finalists.

Award Amount: $10,000 annually for four years  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $40,000.
