Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 10 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to enroll at an Iowa college or university.
  3. Must attend an Iowa high school.
  4. Must actively participate in Iowa State Fair activities (past or present).
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors who actively participate in the Iowa State Fair (past or present). Students must attend high school in Iowa and plan to attend an Iowa college.

  • Activities information (3 lists)
Additional Information: The selection committee will consider the following criteria and percentage factors for selection when reviewing the applications: exhibits/performances/participation in the Iowa State Fair (20 percent); financial need (20 percent); essay concerning the impact the Iowa State Fair has had on the applicant's life (15 percent); extracurricular and community activities (15 percent); community service/volunteerism (15 percent); and class rank and grade point average (10 percent).

Award Amount: Awards will not exceed $5,000. No student shall receive more than the student's established financial need.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Program information is available online at the Iowa College Student Aid Commission (ICSAC) website in the "State Grants & Scholarships" tab. To apply, students must complete both the Iowa Financial Aid Application (IFAA) and the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The IFAA will be available on the ICSAC website on October 1. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and in college financial aid offices. The following additional documents are required: a list of activities the student has participated in during high school, including a brief description, the grade level, hours per week of involvement and offices held, committees or special projects he/she was involved with, and/or special recognition received for his/her involvement; a description of the student's participation in community service and volunteer activities, including a brief description, the number of months and hours per week of involvement, and special recognition received for his/her involvement; a list of all events participated in and any special recognition received for involvement in the Iowa State Fair; and an essay of 400 words or more describing how the Iowa State Fair has affected the student's life. The IFAA, FAFSA, and additional required documents must all be received by the deadline date.
