In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend high school in Wappinger, NY.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  4. Mst plan to major in environmental science or education.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

  • Recommendation letter
  • Essay
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: Established by the family and friends of Norm Schofield, this scholarship is available to graduating seniors in Wappinger, New York who are planning to major in environmental studies or education.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of the Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
