Number of Awards & Eligibility: Fifteen awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must graduate from a Baltimore city public high school.
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Priority will be given to children of employees of the hotels and motels in Maryland and/or students who plan to study hospitality, tourism or business.
  7. Must be a resident of Maryland.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. students who are currently high school seniors at a Maryland area public high school. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, and must plan to major in the field of hotel, hospitality, tourism, restaurant management or business.

Additional Information: The Maryland Hotel and Lodging Association is looking for future leaders that plan to make a career in the hospitality industry. The applicant must be planning to attend a two-year or four-year college beginning with the fall semester.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, renewable for up to three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,000.

Information about and applications for the award are available at the online portal of the CollegeBound Foundation. To access the application for these awards, the student must first register an online account. Applications are available on the CollegeBound Foundation website. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application (if applicable); community service verification(s) (if applicable); and a copy of his/her recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. All application materials must be received by the deadline.
