Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must attend Colgate University, Columbia University, Stanford University, or Tulane University.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for current high school seniors who have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and are planning to attend Colgate University, Columbia University, Stanford University, or Tulane University.

Additional Information: The Horatio Alger Mississippi Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students planning to attend Colgate University, Columbia University, Stanford University, or Tulane University. Applicants for this award will automatically be considered for any additionally applicable state or national awards.

Award Amount: The total value of this award is $10,000 paid out in installments annually. If the student receives this award he/she is guaranteed the funding for the full 5 years of his/her undergraduate program by maintaining a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online from the Horatio Alger Association website. Each applicant must submit an online application. Paper applications are not accepted. The applicant must also provide a copy of the front page of his/her parent/guardian's most recent individual federal tax return (1040, 1040A, 1040 EZ or 1099 SSA-Social Security Tax Form). If the student's parent/guardians were not required to file a tax return, the student should include statement copies of any government benefits, such as food stamps or Public Assistance documents. Online applications and supporting materials must be submitted by the deadline.
