Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship will be provided each year.

  2. Must plan to major in math or science.

  4. Must reside in and attend school in Chelan or Douglas County, WA.

Description: The Howard and Beverly Murray Memorial Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors who plan to major in math or science. Applicants must attend a high school in Chelan or Douglas counties of Washington and must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Additional Information: The Howard and Beverly Murray Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Howard Murray, a longtime chemistry teacher who always encouraged a love for math and science among his students. To preserve his memory, scholarships are awarded annually to graduating high school seniors in Chelan or Douglas counties of Washington State. Applicants must be planning to major in math or science, and must demonstrate high levels of academic achievement.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. All funds will be deposited directly with the school of the recipient's choice.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

The Howard and Beverly Murray Memorial Scholarship has closed for 2019 but is expected to be offered again in 2020. Please check back in January of 2020 when applications will become available. Applications for the Howard and Beverly Murray Memorial Scholarship must be completed online at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington website. To apply, students must first create an online account with the community foundation's application portal and complete the eligibility quiz. Students will then be able to access the individual applications for any scholarships they are eligible through the foundation. Applicants are encouraged to gather the following materials prior to beginning the application: their expected family contribution (EFC) from their Student Aid Report (SAR); transcripts from their current educational institution; email addresses for two individuals who will provide a recommendation for the applicant; and a list of activities, awards, and honors the student has received. The Student Aid Report is obtained by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the student's current-year FAFSA must be completed at the time of application. Students may apply to multiple scholarships they are eligible through the foundation application portal by clicking on "copy answers." Students are also advised to pay close attention to any specific short answers, essays, or other supplemental materials required for each specific scholarship's application. All submissions must be completed online by the deadline date. Any late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
