Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 32 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in or accepted to a two- or four-year college or university for the upcoming fall term.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must pursue a food service-related major.

Description: This scholarship is open to international and U.S. incoming, transfer, and current undergraduate students who are enrolled in a food service-related major. Students must enroll full time.

Additional Information: The International Food Service Executives Association is a professional organization with more than 1,000 professionals world-wide from the food service and hospitality industry. Established in 1901, IFSEA is the industry's oldest professional association. Applicants do not need to be members of IFSEA. However, IFSEA members may serve as recommenders. Scholarships are awarded in spring for use in the fall semester.

Award Amount: Scholarships are $500 or $1,500. Scholarships are non-renewable. Previous recipients may reapply.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online on the International Food Service Executives Association (IFSEA) website or by contacting Dr. Joan Johnson at the email address provided. In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following supporting documents: a personal financial statement summary, to include projected school expenses for the upcoming academic year, any income/fundraising, and any student loans; a statement of 500 words or less describing his/her personal background, to include the topics listed on the application; a description of his/her work experience, listing food-service experience first; a list of any student organizations of which he/she is a member, excluding any fraternal or social organizations; an essay of 250 words or less describing how receiving this scholarship would help him/her in reaching his/her goals; a transcript of grades, as appropriate for his/her level of study; a letter of acceptance if he/she is an incoming or transfer student; and three letters of recommendation, at least two of which should be written by an employer or supervisor. Applications must be scanned into a single .pdf document and emailed to the address provided, no later than the deadline date.
