Number of Awards & Eligibility: The total number of annual awards is dependent on the number of eligible applicants and available funding.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be currently employed (during the college school year) with an IDDBA member company on a full- or part-time basis. The student must work a minimum of 13 hours a week to be eligible. To view a list of member companies, visit www.iddba.org/MemberDirectory/.
  4. Must major in a food-related field (such as culinary arts, baking/pastry arts, or food science), business, or marketing.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. This requirement may be waived for first-time returning adult students. Applicants should call the IDDBA for information.
  6. Must be a high school senior, current undergraduate or graduate student at time of application. Students in the last semester of their degree programs are not eligible for this award.

Description: This scholarship is available for international and U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are currently employed (during the college school year) with an International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA) member company. Students must major in a food-related field (such as culinary arts, baking/pastry arts, or food science), business, or marketing, and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher (this requirement may be waived for first-time returning adult students).

Application requirements for the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA) Scholarship Program are:

Additional Information: Scholarships will be awarded without regard to age, sex, race, religion, marital status, national origin, handicap, or sexual preference. Because funds are budgeted annually, available dollars may be prorated among eligible applicants. If financial resources run low, priority will be given to supermarket dairy, deli, and bakery employees.

Award Amount: $100 to $2,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply; a maximum of two scholarships per year, per applicant, may be awarded. The amount of tuition assistance will be determined by the scholarship committee. Payments will be made jointly to the student and his/her school.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $550.

Applications are available on the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a minimum of one letter of reference on letterhead from a department/store manager and/or professional or academic contact; and a copy of his/her most recent academic transcripts. If completing an online application, the reference letter and transcripts should be mailed or faxed to the IDDBA using the contact information provided.
